Fountain Inn Planning Commission
The Fountain Inn Planning Commission was created in February 1970 following the adoption of a City-Wide Zoning Ordinance. It was created to help alleviate the problems that were resulting from rapid and unplanned growth. This group is composed of seven members who are appointed for up to two consecutive three-year terms by City Council.
Since, its creation the commission has been involved in several City-Wide Comprehensive Plans, Thoroughfare Plans, Annexation Studies, Planned Developments and amendments to the Zoning Ordinance. With the exception of site plan approvals, the Fountain Inn Planning Commission's authority is limited to an advisory role. Nevertheless, this is important to the future of Fountain Inn.
The Commission reviews and makes recommendations on major zoning issues, land use plans, and community needs. Members also have the opportunity to become directly involved in the preparation of reports by serving on study committees.

Dan is an Advanced Planner with the Greenville County Planning Commission (GCPC) who works with city staff, Fountain Inn Planning Commission (FIPC), and City Council. In this capacity, Dan assists the city with special projects, reviews subdivision applications, and makes recommendations for rezoning requests. Dan also provides specific analysis of problems and detailed solutions that help FIPC and City Council be proactive.
The mission of the planning commission is to promote managed growth in the city of fountain inn by maintaining a comprehensive planning program that minimizes land use conflicts, coordinates the provision of public services, and optimizes the quality of life for all city residents.
