Fire Protection Growing with a Growing City
The Fountain Inn Fire Department can trace its roots to 1933. Then a volunteer organization, the record of service in the early part of the 20th century is remembered with great respect.
The current Fire Department has evolved to meet the needs of a growing community. Led by Chief Dale Watson, a 30-year fire fighting veteran, the department is a combination of 11 volunteer and nine paid fire fighters and paramedics. It provides full-time protection for the city and a 29.9 square mile area of Greenville and Laurens Counties.
Well equipped for fire and rescue in urban and rural environments, the department’s equipment includes three pumpers, a water tanker, a service truck, a brush truck for grass fires and a rescue vehicle.
