Superhero 5K for Autism Returns April 18, 2026

Fountain Inn Police Department Invites Community to Be a Hero Once Again

Fountain Inn, SC — Capes will fly and heroes will rise once again as the Fountain Inn Police Department hosts the 7th Annual Superhero 5K Run/Walk for Autism on Saturday, April 18, 2026. This family-friendly event invites participants of all ages and abilities to come together in support of Friends of the Little White House, a local nonprofit dedicated to serving children and adults on the autism spectrum.

Building on the incredible success of 2025, the Superhero 5K continues to grow as one of Fountain Inn’s most impactful community events. Last year, 274 participants took part in the race, helping raise $25,500 to support programs at Friends of the Little White House. The event also brought together 22 race-day volunteers, 10 additional planning volunteers, and support from 12 sponsors and numerous community partners.

“This event represents the very best of our community,” said Police Chief Patrick Fortenberry. “Each year, we see people come together not just to run or walk, but to make a real difference. The Superhero 5K is a reflection of our department’s commitment to serving beyond the badge — building relationships, supporting families, and investing in causes that matter.”

Proceeds from the race directly benefit Friends of the Little White House, whose programs focus on life skills, job training, and educational opportunities for individuals on the autism spectrum. Current sponsors include, Captain America – Presenting Green For Life, Batman Sponsor QuikTrip, Spider-Man Sponsors ABS Kids and Connor Ware Racing, Flash Sponsors Founders Federal Credit Union, Italian American Heritage Festival, and Spectrum ABA. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.

“We have seen firsthand how this event continues to grow and impact lives,” said Lu Grant, Director of Friends of the Little White House. “The support from the Fountain Inn Police Department and this community allows us to expand opportunities for our participants — helping them build confidence, discover their strengths, and define their own success. It’s truly inspiring to see so many people come together for this mission.”

The Superhero 5K is more than a race — it’s a celebration of inclusion, empowerment, and community spirit. Organizers hope to surpass previous participation numbers and continue building on the momentum from past years.

Registration is now open. Grab your cape, gather your team, and join Fountain Inn in making a difference — one step at a time.
